WAXING FAQ

1. Can I get waxed when I have my period?
   Yeppers. It's not a problem, however, we do require guests to wear a tampon when you are on your cycle. Just tuck in the string or cut it short!
2. I'm Preggers, is it safe to get a Brazilly?
   Sure thing, as long as it's ok with your doctor, it is not a issue. Sometimes the size of the tummy can make the procedure a bit more uncomfortable for some people, but we work around your comfort level. While your primping for the birthday, get your toes done and really be sweet to your Doc!
3. Is the Bikini area itchy when the hair grows back?
   'N' to the 'O'. Waxed hair grows in thinner and softer - including underarm hair. It's only when you shave that you get the itching, prickles and dark stubble. Women of the world - get your underarms waxed. Totally doesn't hurt and you will be forever thankful!.
4. How long does a person stay smooth after a Brazilian Wax?
   This depends on the person. Everyones hair growth cycle is different, but on average most people stay smooth from between 1-3 weeks. Hair grows in stages and in each shaft three hairs can grow at different rates, that's way you get bettter results the longer you wait so that the most hair is sprouted.You will, however, notice that after a few Brazilian Bikini Waxes, your hair will start to grow in much finer and you will also notice that your hair will start to grow back a lot slower -AKA no stuble, itching and prickles!
5. Can I get a facial waxing the same day I have had a facial?
   Its not recommended to wax your face if you have just had a facial. Some skin is highly sensitive and every facial includes exfoliation. Waxing also is an exfoliating process and combining the two can cause skin to get irritated and can peel. In some cases I can do a brow wax after a facial, but its not recommended.
6. After waxing, how long does the redness last?
   Redness and sometimes a little swelling may be expected to last for a maximum of 24 hours. Any more then that is not normal and you may be very sensitive to wax.

10 SPOT WAXING TIPS

• For any bikini waxing service, the hair should be approximately 1-2 cm long. This is the ideal length for the wax to stick and the hair to come out nice and easy! So grow it out if it’s too short or grab the clippers and do a little trimming if it’s too long!
• Make sure you are not on any Vitamin D medications such as; Retin-A, Renova, Isoretionin, Differin, Accutane or other acne medications. THESE MEDIATIONS WEAKEN THE SKIN AND MAY CAUSE IT TO TEAR. Or that you do not have any active STD's.
• Curious about cleanliness before your apt? Just ride your bike here or take a dance class?!  Not, to worry - we've got individual SweetSpot Wipettes for you to use to freshen up before your Brazilian services! Sweet Spot's are Ph balanced wipes specifically designed for a woman's 'sweet spot' and the entire Sweet Spot line of spritzes, washes and wipes are available at the shop!
• Exfoliating the night before helps for sure, so pick up some scrub or a bikini brush from The Ten Spot and get buffing!
• TendSkin is the ultimate in ingrown hair removal but it’s also recommended to apply 1 hour before waxing, as it loosens the hairs so that they come out easier! Then be sure to stock up for ongoing ingrown maintenance!
• We sell numbing crème at the shop so be sure to stop by the shop and pick some up. If you forget, rumor has it taking some Advil/Tylenol might take the edge off.

Just the sides are taken off (think of wearing a bikini and not being concerned that when you flip over you have to tuck in the ‘fly aways’).

THE WORKS is our service combo packs, but it doesn't just mean we've bundled the services and slaped on a disount, oh no, that's not our style - it means we've set up a tag team effort of estheticians to work on you, so you are in and out and looking fan-fricking-tastic in the shortest amount of time possible! So whip out monoploly and Fluffy you'll be home early tonight!

SHELLAC / AXXIUM FAQ (AKA GEL POLISH)

1. What is Shellac / Axxium?
   Shellac and Axxium are a Soak Off Gel Polish System (Shellac is made by CND and Axxium is OPI). It polishes on like nail lacquer, then it is cured under UV light for a few seconds. You leave with completely dry perfectly polished nails that won't chip! It's perfect for busy gals with no time for weekly mani's, special occations where there's a party planned for every night, vacations or any occation that demans long-lasting colour!
2. How long does it last?
   Soak-Off Gel Lacquer can last from up to two to four weeks! It fully depends upon how much you work with your hands and how fast your nails natural grow. Also if your hands are always in water expect the wear to be a bit less.
3. How long is the appointment?
   The appoitntmemt is one hour. We start off with a dry manicure to get your cutilcles perfect and your nail shape exact. Then the gel polish is applied and cured. Best part is, you leave with 100% dry nails the second your service is done! So with no drying time, your in the shop for about the same amount of time as a regular manicure!
4. Will it damage my nails?
   Negatory - the product is very gentle, hence it can be applied to your natural nail. However, we highly recomend that we remove the gel polish for you at the shop. Just like peeling your own polish off, it can damage the top layer of your nail if it's removed improperly. Removal is completely free with the booking of another maniure service!
5. Can I remove my gel polish myself?
   It's really not reccomended that you remove gel polish yourself. If done improperly it can damage your nail. It's strong stuff (hence it doesn't chip) so proper removal is neccessary! So resist the urge to peel them off yourself! Addictive we know, but worth it. Just come back on it and we can remove it for you. If you are booking in another maniure service, then we'll take it off gratis!
6. What do I do when my nails grow out?
   You can purchase the corresponding color to your gel and touch up as it grows out. You can even paint over your axxium with any nail color you would like! (just as long as it is then removed with a non acetone polish remover).

10 SPOT GEL POLISH TIPS

• Shellac / Axxium is best when applied on shorter to average length nails.  Longer nails will cause the soak off gel to lift.
• Best for strong healthy nails - if nails are dry, brittle or weak axxium is not the service for you.
• Shellac / Axxium is excellent for vacations, wedding and party seasons!
• If you already have Shellac  or Axxium on your nails, then you will need to book in an appointment to have it removed first (it's free!), before we can re-apply - so make sure to tell us and we can book in enough time for your removal and your new application!

FACIAL BAR FAQ

1. What is a Facial Bar and how does it work?
   Well, first off, our Facial Bar isn't just a catchy phrase -  the layout of our Facial bar is a set of four side by side swank barber chairs that recline! It's not private, but it's still and indulgant and pretty perfect for best friends, mom and daughters and gf and bf to have their services done together! You won’t be listening to any ‘solitudes’ soundtrack for this 'anti-spa' facial either. It's The Ten Spot's top notch "anti-spa" vibe all the way!
2. Group Facials sound fun, but will I be decent?
   But of course! You keep your bottoms on but you'll lose your top! Yes, yes, we’ll give you a cover up and a blanket to cozy up in!
3. Can I wear make up after my facial?
   We don't advise it, keep your super clean skin for one day and enjoy it!
4. Can I get my eyebrows / upper lip waxed before a facial?
   Negatory - everyone's skin reacts to wax and products differently. You may be fine, but it's not a break-out risk we want to take
5. Will I look all red and tortured after?
   Hells no! we use super gentle extraction techniques and use a slew of products to combat redness and irritation.
6. How often should I get a facial?
   Facials should be done every 6 to 8 week for optimall skin care with a maintenance facial (ie: the Quickie Facial) in between (like 3 to 5 weeks) for up keep and in case of breakouts! At The Ten Spot we've packed our facials with all the goodies of the more pricey spa treatments but kept the prices low so that they can be an affordable part of your skin care regime! But of course, it's all about your home care! So we make sure to inform you of your specific skin condition and what you need to do at home to keep it radiant!
7. So, like, why should I get regular facials?
   Regular facials (especially with an active home-care regimen) will help prevent breakouts, keep your surface cells newer and healthier, and thereby ensure that your skin looks its very best.
   
   

10 SPOT FACIAL BAR TIPS

• Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your service to complete a facial profile and get changed.
• It's ok to wear makeup to come to your facial! We'll take it off for you!
• Plan your facial for when you want to have a relaxing day or night off - you will feel so blissed out after
• DO NOT plan a facial any time near your wedding, graduation, court date or any other occation where you need to look your best. Facials are prefectly safe services, but as with all spa's it's not reccomended s close to a big date, as you never know if your skin may be sensitive or have a reaction to an ingrediant in a product.

MANZILIAN FAQ

1. Will I have to be naked?
   Yeppers.  But only from the waist down and  we have draping techniques so that you are secure and not exposed in any way.
2. Should I trim before I get my Manzilian?
   Hair length sould be 1-2 cm for best results. If you can't manage to trim, we can do it.
